Hi all, have not managed to get out on my detector for a while, legs do not seem to allow at the moment!
Think I will be stuck from buying online for now rather than searching for coins.
Whats hot at the moment, any tips?
I am not quite sure what area to go in!

Hi,
What's hot? is probably also expensive - I suggest you collect whatever interests you, something that you have a passion for. There are plenty of websites that provide images of coins that could help pique an interest. Are you keen on sets / runs of coins or wanting to collect examples of many different denominations for a single monarch e.g.? I guess if you are a detectorist then you won't be interested in decimal coins but there are many early decimal proof sets available at very reasonable prices.
I heard once that if you decide to collect a set or run of a particular coin then find out what is the most difficult one in that run to get. Aim for that early on otherwise you can end up having an almost complete run but without the most difficult or rare coin.
I've always aimed for the best grade that I can afford at the time but that does tend to mean that I buy fewer coins.
Do your research before you buy and check prices until you are comfortable with a particular dealer - I'd steer clear of e-bay because of inflated prices and outrageous claims.
Sorry I haven't suggested anything in particular, but it is such an individual thing. Good luck and have fun.

I am not quite sure what area to go in! decimal coins are going crazy at the mo, all the royal mint folders are too, debating if i should cash my decimals in now, or enough to get a 1927 proof wreath crown

A coin is a small, flat, (usually) round piece of metal or plastic used primarily as a medium of exchange or legal tender. They are standardized in weight, and produced in large quantities at a mint in order to facilitate trade. They are most often issued by a government.
